Convention sketchbook project is the brainchild of Sara Felix. In her desire to see more artists featured at conventions she began talking to programming people at literary conventions and the idea took root that a sketchbook tour could be like the equivalent to a writer’s reading in the programming schedule. At the same time she was brought on to Discon III to do a gallery exhibit. She began to think the two ideas could be combined to showcase all facets of the creative output of artists in the field.

This project has a number of sketchbooks around the world in the hands of fans who are passionate about art. We will be asking for artists to sketch as little or as much as they would like in the books. We want to showcase convention artists- not only their finished pieces but their sketches and other ideas they put down on paper.

But it doesn’t stop there. We will have a number of sketchbooks that we will send to artists if they would like to fill their own books up to be displayed at Discon III. Fill up a small sketchbook to be displayed if you can’t make it to a convention where a sketchbook will be.
